Tour Description
Driving through one of the most important agriculture areas in the north side of the country (Caribbean slopes), we arrive at Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge; this ecosystem is considered to be one of the best place on the continent for bird watching. Also, in addition to an abundance of birds, Caño Negro is also home to many other interesting animals, such as sloths, three types of monkeys, caimans, lizards, bats, - more wildlife than what you ever imagine! - And a variety of flora native of the wetlands.
Our tour to this beautiful region leaves from your hotel and travels approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to Caño Negro, a rustic village near the Nicaraguan border. Here will begin our boat tour into this incredible ecosystem, the wetlands. We will work our way slowly upstream stopping along the way to observe the various animals spotted. Around noon we will stop at a nice local restaurant for a typical Costa Rican lunch before we start the way back to Bijagua.
