Culture and Sustainability: Our Experience at P3
At Hideaway Rio Celeste, we had the honor of participating in the P3: People, Planet, Peace conference, a space for dialogue, reflection, and inspiration that brings together individuals and organizations committed to sustainability at both the national and international levels.
It was an opportunity to share and learn from transformative experiences that promote a fairer, more sustainable, and more peaceful future. We also reaffirmed the essential role of culture as a cross-cutting element in building more resilient societies.
Culture not only strengthens identity and a sense of belonging but also invites us to integrate art, history, and local traditions into sustainability strategies. We believe this is a fundamental path toward real and lasting change.
A Coffee Break: The Vandola
As part of this experience, we recently shared a very special moment with Don Minor Alfaro, the creator of the vandola, a Costa Rican artisanal method of brewing coffee inspired by the traditional chorreado.
The vandola is much more than a clay design piece. Its narrow neck holds the filter, while its handle and spout make it both practical and elegant. Its structure helps keep coffee at the ideal temperature for longer while enhancing its flavors and aromas.
Our Vision
At Hideaway Rio Celeste, we believe that sustainability is not achieved solely through new technologies or policies, but also through respect for our roots, dialogue between knowledge systems, and the celebration of local creativity.
Seeing how culture, art, and traditions can become allies in building a fairer and more balanced future inspires us to continue working with purpose, always recognizing the value of each person, each community, and each story in shaping a better world.
